Throughout my practice I strive for a certain expression or 'gaze' that invites contemplation and reflection. I employ thin glazes of paint to build up a luminous, delicate and transient quality which creates a tension between the physical nature and surface of the canvas and the image itself.

I have recently done several paintings where the gessoed surface is left partially exposed, thus emphasising the deliberate tight cropping of the image and revealing the process of the painting.
